BENEFITING: PACIFIC UNION COLLEGE
Missionary work is often times envisioned in impoverished countries with lack of basic medical needs or stable educational resources. So why go to a place with great health care, a stable economy, and a nearly free-accessing educational system for missionary work? I believe a place like Denmark forces us to reevaluate our definition of 'mission.' Denmark is known to be one of the most secular and atheistic countries in the world. By funding me to go you will be sending me to Vejlefjordskolen (Danish Junior College) as an assistant men's dean. This means that I'll be mentoring and being mentored by students and faculty through dorm events, worship services, community outreach, teaching, and forming real bonds with the students and culture. With your help this will be a year that will mark a formative stage in my development as a future pastor, chaplain, and educator. Missionary work shouldn't shy away from being effective to all the corners of the earth. Jesus says it best, “You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored?" (Matt. 5:13) Help me go to Denmark and lets bring back the taste of faith.
