BENEFITING: Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency

EVENT DATE: Jun 02, 2016

THE STORY:

The Rising Stars Scholarship Fund was started in 2014, designed to raise funds for an incredible cohort of youth, determined to move forward with their lives. One of those youth was Kyle, who has since graduated from high school and is now enrolled in Brown University. In 2015, the second Rising Stars Youth Leadership Gala was held, and four scholarships of $1,000 each were awarded to college-focused youth. Look for us in 2016 ... and we look forward to your support of the Rising Stars Youth Scholarship Fund! Thank you whole-heartedly!

BOSS wants to raise $20,000 in Rising Stars Scholarship Funds for homeless and low-income youth - donations of any size, no matter how small, are welcome!! They all add up and will help us gradually build this annual fund!!

Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency (BOSS) is a Berkeley-based nonprofit that helps families & individuals escape homelessness and Turn Lives Around. Rising Stars is a collaboration Berkeley Youth Alternatives, Berkeley High School, and Berkeley Technology Academy to honor 20 youth who are overcoming serious challenges - homelessness, poverty, domestic violence, criminal justice issue or substance abuse in the family - and are making incredible positive progress against the odds! The Scholarship Fund awards youth at the gala.
