BENEFITING: Remember Betty Foundation
EVENT DATE: Oct 24, 2015
Hi, My names Rita I’m 33 years old and for all my life I have been fat (I prefer not to be politically correct). I have done every diet out there; I have worked out for hours at a time with a personal trainer, I even went to “Fat camp” when I was younger. NOTHING worked. I fluctuated here and there but always found my self-right back to where I started or worse.
Here’s where Danny and Donnie come in (Well them, twitter, and Instagram…Gots to love that social media) I’ve been following a few years now just kinda lurking on the news feed reading what they had to say, but then I started paying attention.
Danny was on a roll of posting about work outs, every time I saw one I felt guilty because there I was sitting on my behind thinking I should do that, I should work out more… so I did. Even when I didn’t want to if I was being a lazy scrolling through posts and I saw a “work out done ” post I got up and moved. I got my self a personal training and joined a few dance classes, I calculated what I ate, and it worked for a bit. It’s away been like this, I have a rough day (or year) and the first thing I thought was “Oh I deserve this 500 calorie drink”. Then I would get upset when I wasn’t seeing progress and just stop everything. Until this year! I figured out I was the problem not whatever program I was on.
Donnie’s Tweets are such an inspiration, I would “ like” and “share” all the time, but then came a day at the end of February where he tweeted;
“Every disappointment, setback or stumble, is now in the past. Starting at this very moment; THE PAST IS OVER! Your #happiness awaits you.”
I figured it out, I wasn’t happy, I wasn’t happy with my self, my happiness was waiting I just had to find it. And I have, not only that but I found out I love myself happy, I don’t think I ever loved who I was before.
I get up every morning at 5:45 (well during the week, I allow my self to sleep until 8 on the weekends) to get a work out in before work (my work out play list consist of NKOTB of course), and the results are AMAZING!!!! I feel great, my clothes fit better and most of all I want to continue to be better.
Both of them with each and every inspirational tweet posted makes it a little easier to be the person I want to be.
I have lost over 100 Lbs since this started over two years ago ( yes I went up and down ALOT) and 30 in the last two months I have been training.
I want to give back, with my family history of breast cancer what better way to do that then to make my very first EVER 5k in honor of them and give back to an AMAZING charity. So here I am putting myself out there in hope that you will help me reach my goal by Oct 24th. Anything you can give would be great.
Follow my daily journy as I get to me firstever 5k through my social Media if you like on Twitter and Instagram both @ajsmyreasony.
Founded by Danny Wood of New Kids On The Block in memory of his mother, Betty, our mission is to help minimize the financial burden associated with breast cancer for patients & survivors by providing direct financial support to them so that they can focus on recovery & quality of life. Our mission is to make sure that the legacy of Betty Wood lives on! Our goal is to fill the gap left by the major breast cancer charities. Research & awareness are great, but they do no good if a patient can't afford the treatments, or if they have to choose between paying for treatment or paying the electricity bill, buying groceries, or rent. Support our mission by starting your own fundraiser. 5Ks, marathons, bowling nights, dine to donate, yard sales. You name it, we're up for it!
