On February 23rd, Marci had a routine visit to her obgyn. She measured her belly and noticed that she was measuring extremely small for her gestation. Marci noted that the child wasn't kicking as much. Another ultrasound was scheduled for that afternoon, because her stomach hadn't grown in over two weeks. The ultrasound revealed that her amniotic fluid was very low. Another more in depth ultrasound further revealed that there was no amniotic fluid left at all.
Marci was prepped for an emergency c-section surgery. River was born at 5:01 PM on the 23rd, 11 weeks premature (29 weeks gestation), weighing 1 pound and 14 ounces. She needed chest compressions upon delivery until the emts arrived to take her to childrens hospital.
Marci stayed in Buffalo overnight and was then transported to Abbott.
RIght now we have no idea what each moment is going to bring, much less the hurdles she will face in the upcoming months. Reilly is a substitute custodian with the MHS schools and Marci is a PCA with REM. Neither can currently drive.
Anything that you can help with is amazing and greatly appreciated. They have a long road ahead of them, both financially and emotionally. Anything helps. Thank you.
