Theresa is a strong, determined 20 year old young woman who was referred to R.J. Leonard Foundation by a local youth agency. After losing her mother at the age of 15, she spent three years in the foster care system. Theresa is a single mom, providing for her four year old child. Possessing an incredible work ethic, she is balancing two jobs, her role as a mom, and attending classes at a local community college. She is working to achieve her goal to obtain an associate’s degree in criminal justice and a career as a probation officer. RJLF has provided Theresa with career and financial counseling, clothing for her child, and transportation support. She has been matched with a dedicated husband and wife Mentoring ‘team’, one employed as a financial planner, the other is an executive with a large health care organization. Paying bills and managing her time are ongoing challenges for Theresa. She is working closely with her mentors and is intent on achieving her goals.
