I'm humbled and honored to be one of 40 runners chosen by Work to run over 200 miles across Haiti in February 2018. Work’s Run Across Haiti is a wonderful opportunity to do two things I love, which are to run and to help people. This ultramarathon will push me to the limits physically and mentally and will be extremely difficult and challenging. However, this event will be more than worthwhile because I now have the platform to raise awareness that Haiti is not a country to be feared or pitied, but just in need of the proper guidance and tools to pull themselves out of poverty forever. Work’s mission is simple: To accompany families in Menelas out of poverty through good, dignified jobs. This mission is achieved by having these families participate in a job training program until they are placed into dignified work. In addition, Work provides these families access to medical care, educational opportunities for school aged children, help in eliminating debt, as well as address any housing needs. These families also receive follow up services such as professional development and household budgeting workshops until they are comfortable being on their own. I'm extremely excited to be a part of Work with the dream of ending poverty one family at a time. Through your donations we can make this dream a reality. Thank you for your time and support.
