Callers are connected with a cancer information specialist who can help them locate a hospital, understand cancer and treatment options, learn what to expect and how to plan, address insurance concerns, find financial resources, find a local support group, and more. The Society can also help people who speak languages other than English or Spanish find the assistance they need, offering services in more than 200 languages.

Get Muddy For A Good Cause
In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived. But the survival rate has doubled over the last 40 years thanks to advances in cancer research, funded in part by the American Cancer Society. ACS aims to accelerate progress so that three in four people survive the disease within the next 20 years – but this will only be possible if enough people support fundraising events like Rugged Maniac.
How To Get Started
If you've never fundraised before, here's how it works: You'll get a personal fundraising page here on CrowdRise. You'll send the link to that page to your friends and family to let them know you're participating in Rugged Maniac to raise money for the American Cancer Society (or another charity of your choice). People will donate money online directly to your page and you'll be able to track your progress, add photo and video updates, and receive comments and messages from donors. You'll also be able to see how much other Maniacs have raised, both for your local event and for others nationwide, and win awesome prizes!
Step 1:Get your ticket for Rugged Maniac and check YES when asked if you'd like to set up a CrowdRise fundraising page. You'll get a link to your page on the order confirmation screen.
