Team Runnin' Not Walken started off in 2015 with a modest hope to raise $1,000 for a charity that we felt was incredible and that we'd love to help, Kate's Kart, by running Ragnar Relay Chicago in June of 2015. For a bunch of non-runners who had never run a race so grueling and who had never run a fundraiser before, both events were a huge success. An encore was necessary!
2016's challenges were even bigger. How do you repeat a great running performance AND expand the fundraiser? With only 25% of the team coming back, the running part was going to be difficult to say the least. The fundraiser went off much better. This time, we wanted to hit a modest 20% increase over 2015's final tally. Needless to say, we smashed it again!
On our $2,750, we raised almost $1,000 more than we had hoped as we beat our goal by 30% and the previous campaign by over 60%! This brought our 2-year total to $5,860 donated to Kate's Kart!
Our goal for 2017's campaign is $4,200 so that when we hit that number, we'll hit a $10,000 given over our 3 campaigns. For a small group with lots of moving parts, that's pretty significant.
So why are we so passionate about Kate's Kart? They're an awesome group who gives sick and hurting children in the hospital new books as a distraction to their situation and to foster a love of reading. There's a lot of little ones represented by our runners and Kate's Kart has been there for some of them and that's why we want to be there for Kate's Kart.
They're a great cause and one that the more people that seem to find out about them, the more people jump on board with supporting our efforts! Please consider contributing to our campaign. We're a year away and our fundraiser won't officially start March 6, 2017 but if you come across this, please help us get a head start!
Thank you for your consideration and hopefully your donation!
