BENEFITING: Direct Relief
This year I am fortunate enough to be attending the Infinity Interplanatary Tournament, hosted by Corvus Belli in Vigo, Spain this August.
I decided to use this opportunity to raise awareness for a charity that I interned with in college called Direct Relief.
Quoting from their website: "Direct Relief is a humanitarian aid organization, active in all 50 United States and 70 countries, with a mission to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies. Direct Relief’s assistance programs focus on maternal and child health, the prevention and treatment of disease, and emergency preparedness and response, and are tailored to the particular circumstances and needs of the world’s most vulnerable and at-risk populations."
With many charitable causes, it is difficult to know whether your money is being spent well or helping the people who need assistance. Direct Relief is one of the most transparent charities in the world, and their main tactic of direct medical intervention sidesteps many of the crowding out, lack of use, and low efficiency with which other charitable endeavors struggle with.
To this end, I will be publishing a series of articles, tactical analysis, list building, battle reports, etc. Included in these will be several contests where followers can contribute money to Direct Relief in order to determine the faction I play, the types of opponents I should practice against, personalized list building and analysis, and goofier stuff, like what I wear at Interplanetary (I'm sure my opponents would appreciate a paper bag over my head).
I understand that many people already have charitable commitments or are facing liquidity constraints, so I ask them to help increase awareness if possible.
