Road to recovery: Disabled Veteran Chronicles
Organized by: FRIENDS OF BRAULIO RODAS
Remembering Cpl. Rivers January 2016
June 11, 2016
About the fundraiser:
With 4th of July right around the corner, we need your help restoring a 1955 Chevy Bel Air.
The begining of the year we burried another brother; Anthony Rivers a corporal who served with 5th Marines in Afghanistan and 2/1 took his own life as the darkness of post traumatic stresss consumed him. "till Valhalla old friend".
Restoring this classic car will aid us getting to at risk veterans, and create a personallized program that keeps them accountable for staying connected to one another. "Employment in Pairs" a term used for machine guns when suppressing enemy forces and fire.
Pairing veterans with others who have "been there done that", is key to continuing "troop welfare" a term used in the Marine Corps as one of the first responsibilities of leadership. We cannot keep losing service men to depression on the home front.
Additional: take special case veterans, to medical appointments, events, conferences and visit with those in the hospital and trauma recovery homes.
Corporal Rivers left behind a beautiful baby girl and young wife, who was his long time girlfriend. Never forget "22 a day" the national average of veteran suicides per day.
Why it is so important: Veterans are not to be taken lightly, they are men and women who raised their hands to service when no one else would. They are men and woman who walk among us in plain clothes keeping always on the alert, observing everything within sight or hearing. A true veteran will go to the ends of the earth for the unity and welfare of his or her country men.
Through your donations of love and kindness we will raise enough money to complete project Rehab and Restore
THE MISSION: To grow the veterans counseling initiative, a voluntary program where veterans get together for guest speaking and 1 on 1 counseling to rise above the painful memories of death destruction and chaos. Overcome through compassion, strength and unity.
Help join all generations of veterans together in order for them to speak and listen to living a fruitful veteran life. Through support, nostalgia and military traditions.
