Besides affordable tuition based programs, Road to Success (RTS) has been addressing a clear need -- there is a child care crises in OUR city. With an estimated 50,000 children of working poor families in NYC on waiting lists for spots in subsidized day care and after school and summer programs, the number of kids left alone after school and in the summertime is staggering.
Roads to Success was formed with a goal of providing enriching after school programs to young people in NYC that are free or affordable. We currently serve 200 children who are in need of free programming, which is a drastic drop from the 500 we served in the last school year. We are able to offer these free services through scholarships in our tuition programs and grant funds in our after school programs at PS 191 and PS 90. Due to the economic crisis New York is faced with, our funds to support these services have dropped severely.
This need is still great, and Roads to Success is working hard to serve as many of these children as possible with the limited funds available. The mission of the organization will always be to support children in their social, emotional and academic development in enriching, community-based after school and summer programs.
“Support is the most important thing Roads to Success offers children. Someone who cares about me. Someone who helps me with my homework and interacts with us.”- Lorraine, 7th grader at PS 191 (City Funded Program)
Roads to Success counts on the financial support of individuals like you to maintain our programs to families in need. Individual contributions not only provide much needed funds but send a strong message to other potential contributors that there is a critical mass of individuals who support these families and the important work we do.
