A woman runs out of a house with several stab wounds minutes after a man runs his pick-up into her home. It all happened Wednesday afternoon in east Orange County and neighbors said this is just one of many cases of the domestic violence they've seen in their neighborhood recently.
Neighbors said they called 911 after seeing a man drive his vehicle right into a home at 1967 Bonneville Drive in broad daylight. They said the man stormed into the house. They then heard an argument, followed by dead silence.
When deputies arrived, they saw a woman running out of the home with several stab wounds, collapsing in the front yard. She was taken by medics to the hospital, while a SWAT team made its way into the home.
"They were able to find the suspect inside one of the rooms of the homes. He was taken into custody,” said Jeff Williamson of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. “He is injured, I do not know the extent of his injuries or how he got them. He was taken to the hospital. We will interview him as soon as we have an opportunity to do so."
Officers confirmed this all stemmed from a domestic dispute. Residents said they've noticed a link between many of their neighbors losing their jobs and a rising number of domestic violence cases in their neighborhood.
"This has been like the third time in six months," said Billie Jo Brice, a Bonneville Drive resident.
"I think it's because of the loss of jobs and the economy everybody is struggling," said Cherie Bastress, another neighbor.
