Robert Baldino, a disabled two tour combat veteran of the Vietnam war and a two time Purple Heart recipient is returning to competitive ultra cycling in this years edition of the team RAAM. Baldino has spent the last four and a half years recovering from a severe near death (multiple internal injuries) bike/truck accident near Tuba City, Arizona during then Race Across America (RAAM) 2011. During his accident recovery doctors discovered Baldino had kidney cancer and had additional surgery in 2012. A multiple Team RAAM finisher, a California Triple Crown Winner and a member of the Furnace Creek 508 Hall of Fame Robert is looking forward to getting back into competitive cycling. Robert trains in his home in the Sierra Foothills, Jackson, California where he has continued his regime of riding in that area not far from Sacramento. Robert and three teamates will be riding in support of “Wheels4Change” an organization that helps support military families & giving help to veterans of all wars that have served their Country with honor.
