Hi again, With one week to …
Hi again,

With one week to go before the Mila Marathon in New York, I wanted to give you a quick update.

First off, I’d like to thank all of you for your very generous donations for Mila’s new school, the Clarke School. Together we've raised over $20,000 for Clarke school! This makes a huge difference to a small school like Clarke, and helps to give the gift of hearing to many more children. Your support has been hugely motivating in my training this year! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Secondly, we have great news that Mila is a perfect candidate to receive cochlear implant surgery, and will be operated on November 1st (two days before the marathon!). This means that if everything goes according to plan, she will be hearing by the end of November, will be in mainstream kindergarten, and speaking like any other kid by time she’s 3-4 years old. We are so grateful for the amazing medical teams at Clarke School, NYU Hospital, Weil-Cornell Medical Center, Center for Hearing and Communication, NY State’s Early Intervention program and Cochlear’s medical implant technology. Without them, Mila might otherwise live a life of silence.

Lastly (and least importantly), my training has been a little choppy. This season I’ve suffered from nearly every running injury in the book (plantar fasciitis, bone contusions, shin splints, strained Achilles tendon, and bruised toes). But that’s not gonna stop me. I will complete this marathon, even if it means I have to limp across the finish line.

Anyway, wish me luck next Sunday!

With appreciation,

Dear Friends and Family, On…
Dear Friends and Family,

On behalf of Mila and Anya, thank you so much for your generous donations, love and support. It means so much to have people like you in our lives, and it will mean the world to the children of Clarke School.

We blew past our $5,000 goal and are now at just over $14,000! That is a ton of money!!! The whole staff at Clarke School is thrilled and so are we! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Now for the hard part... The running.
