By the time I run the marathon I will have been living and working in NYC for just on a year. I feel blessed and lucky with my lot here but what you see here everyday is some of the 60,000 New Yorkers who sleep in shelters and 1.8 million who live below the poverty line. I love this city and I've decided that in support of my fellow New Yorkers I'm going to strap on the running shoes for another marathon and run with the Robin Hood team. Robin Hood is the largest poverty-fighting organisation in New York but what really drew me to RH is that 100% of donations go directly to programs helping New Yorkers because the Board of RH pays all administrative costs. Look what your support can help do for the city of New York: - $50 covers the daily wage for one formerly homeless man to participate on a work crew assignment that prepares him for full-time employment. - $75 feeds a family of three for a week. - $100 provides one night of safe shelter for a family. - $360 provides a single immigrant mother with a microloan to start her own business. - $450 provides immigrant students with a college counselor to help prepare applications for schools, scholarships, and financial aid. - $1000 provides regular asthma treatment to a child, so they can take fewer sick days from school. As usual I'll be off the tins and sugar while training, that's worth a donation in and of itself isn't it? I appreciate any donation!
