BENEFITING: Robin Hood
ORGANIZER: Robin Hood
EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2014
Friends and Family,
I'm thrilled to be running the 2014 NYC Marathon on the Robin Hood team. 100% of your donations will support poverty-fighting programs in New York City - programs for housing security, education, and job/economic security. Running a marathon has been a lifelong goal of mine, and Robin Hood's good work and the urgent need for it has motivated me to finally go out and do it. Your partnership and support make this even more meaningful.
Over the last seven years, Robin Hood marathoners have raised nearly $5 million to help feed, shelter and heal our neighbors in need. This year, I am part of a team of 100 runners, and I would like to raise $5,000 to contribute to Robin Hood's grantees.
Here's what your donation can do:
$50 covers the daily wage for one formerly homeless man to participate on a work crew assignment that prepares him for full-time employment.
$75 provides a day of high quality preschool for one child.
$100 connects one low-income family to public benefits, social services, and employment counseling.
$200 helps a woman secure a $1,500 microloan to help her launch or expand her own business.
$750 provides a year of basic literacy training and G.E.D. test preparation for one student.
$1000 pays for health care for one adolescent for one year.
$1,500 provides a year of counseling for the family of a child enrolled in pre-school.
$3,000 provides six months of psychiatric treatment for a homeless person.
These programs are vitally important, and I am passionate about supporting them. So passionate that I'm running! A lot! I never do that!
I really appreciate your support. I would also love to chat about any of these programs any time, and what we can do to support them long after this marathon.
