BENEFITING: Robin Hood
ORGANIZER: Robin Hood
EVENT DATE: Nov 01, 2015
Hi Friends and family!
Well, I'm at it again, foolheartedly running inordinate distances in the name of the welfare of the good people of New York City.
If you knew me 5 years ago, you may recall that for the good of the public education of the children of Boston, I entered and ran the Boston Marathon, finishing an impressive 11th to last.
To redeem myself, after years of vegging out and slowly becoming a self described "husky gentleman" I have signed on to compete in the NYC marathon and raise money for Robin Hood, a homelessness and housing advocacy organization in the city.
What is particularly sexy about RH, is that all of their overhead costs are covered in full by their board of directors, such that Every Single Dollar donated goes directly to actually helping real people.
- $25 covers 1/2 the daily wage for one formerly homeless person to participate on a work crew assignment that prepares them for full-time employment.
- $75 provides a day of high quality preschool for one child.
- $100 connects one low-income family to public benefits, social services, and employment counseling.
- $1000 pays for health care for one adolescent for one year.
