Our animal shelter gets ridiculously little help from our town. While the facility was remodeled from our closed-down municipal pool (yes, it used to be the local pool!), and the city funds one overworked but wonderful employee, they need a lot of help. Greg, his wife, and his stellar group of volunteers, along with Purdue University's veterinary school alumni who periodically arrive for free spaying and neutering clinics in their very cool truck, do a great job with what is available. Still, the funding is so limited that it's heartrending to see the lost pets and strays that arrive to their care. They don't put these animals down. They do all they can to publicize, care for, love and honor these needful beings. Their Facebook page tells you where their hearts lie. Our community, if not our leaders, helps how they can, but it takes more money. Please help in this small way. For my birthday, I'd like to help them out just a little bit! A little love, care, and some toys for the furbabies. Please help the Peru (Indiana) Animal Care and Control. If you live nearby, please go visit and walk a dog. Pet a kitty. They need some love. So do you.
