BENEFITING: GRANDVILLE ACADEMIC TEAM BOOSTERS
The RoboDawgs are a competitive robotics team based at Grandville High School which is located, of course, in Grandville, Michigan. They compete as multiple teams in a number of international robotics leagues - including VEX Robotics Competitions, FIRST Robotics Competitions, and the Great American River Race.
The RoboDawgs continue to grow and expand. Last year, Crowdrise supporters helped the team purchase a CNC machine to fabricate custom parts. This month, the team used that machine to make parts for scientfic experiements that traveled aboard a NASA sounding rocket. (you can read more about the teams support for the NASA program on our blog - http://robodawgs.wordpress.com/)
Now the RoboDawgs are ready to tackle something new - 3D printing. We'd like to buy a MakerBot Replicator 2X experimental 3D printer. This is one of the best entry-level 3D printers on the market - and it prints using high strength ABS plastic.
The RoboDawgs are one of the leading high school robotics teams in the country - but don't take our word for it. Just Google "grandville robodawgs" and look at any of the first ten pages of search results to learn as much as you want to know about the team.
Our target is to get complete this fundraising effort by the end of August and get the new 3D printer ordered before school starts. Please consider making a contribution today toward adding 3D printing capability to the RoboDawgs program.
UPDATE!!! A 3D Digitizer was released by MakerBot today. This new device will allow us to scan an existing part, and then pass the scanned file to the Replicator - which will then produce an identical part. Hello Star Trek! We've added a Digitizer to this Crowdrise fundraising request! Please help us fund this new equipment!
