BENEFITING: WORLD ORT INC
STEM – science, technology, engineering and mathematics – it’s the educational challenge of the day. But how do you get kids to take up these subjects let alone hungry to learn more about them?
At World ORT we were among the first to recognize the potential of robotics in stimulating interest in these 21st century skills by making them enjoyable and engaging.
Our robotics program provides a full robotics curriculum to students in ORT Schools, from grades 5 to 12.
Robotics ecompasses disciplines including mechanical engineering, software programming, electronics – even human psychology. And it helps kids build a base of scientific and technological knowledge when they can use to invent and innovate solutions to a range of problems.
It unlocks capacities they barely knew existed, giving them knowledge and skills relevant for today’s rapidly evolving jobs markets and so helping them to attain life-long economic security.
The Robotics Program also transforms the effectiveness of teachers and modernizes the culture of their schools; it not only impacts current students it touches the lives of future students who will benefit from well-prepared teachers and schools.
The Program works in three ways:
1) It trains teachers, giving them both content and pedagogical skills so that they deliver the courses effectively.
2) It provides schools with the robotics equipment they need.
3) It offers national and international exchange programs such as Olympiads, competitions and exhibitions, which motivate students to higher levels of achievement.
But we need help to continue this proven program – it all comes down to money. Please, help us to make the robotics program available to ORT students in the school year 2012-13 by contributing today.
