THE STORY:

Debra Calandrillo wrote -

We are a diehard group of volunteers from Rochester Animal Services.

No matter how hard we work, the fact of the matter is an animal shelter is a very stressful and unnatural environment for an animal to end up in.

We support the efforts of PAWS (Providing Animal Welfare Services) because the bottom line is shelters can't do it alone. Providing owners with support to keep their animals at home is a more compassionate and cost efficient approach. Providing proper shelter and starting dialogue with in-need pet owners is a vital step in creating a compassionate, more humane community.

Please consider lending your support to Rochester's animal welfare landscape by joining our team, sponsoring one of our team members or making a donation to our team page.

Thank you!

In memory of Hannah, one of the best and sweetest dogs I've ever know/learned from. On my 30th birthday, while volunteering at Rochester Animal Services, I adopted a young 4 month old border collie mix that had been abandoned and running wild in a junk yard in the city. It took several hours for her to be captured, and she had absolutely no socialization with people at her young and tender age. She was a mess, and terrified. It took months and months for us to tackle simple tasks, but she grew with leaps and bounds as we persevered and we developed an unsurpassed friendship and trust that grew deeper every day. She lived a long and full life, and I'll be forever grateful for our bond. Rochester Animal Services and PAWS provide our city with amazing resources and it's an honor to give back to them. Join me in this worthy cause! Support our local pets in need. 5 years ago
