I'm running in this race in memory of the beautiful Dina Luthans, beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2012 and beat the odds to live, love and laugh for 3 more years. She didn't just survive these last years, she lived them in the way she wanted. She spent time with her beloved family and friends, she traveled, went to concerts, drank margaritas, and was the smart, sassy Dina she had been before her diagnosis. I will be forever grateful for the girls trips we got to take in Arizona, San Francisco, Okoboji, and in her home town of Kearney.
Dina was supposed to run this race with her sister, Julie. I'm going to join Julie on this day to help raise money and awareness for this terrible disease. I'm running in honor of Dina, and in memory of Jeff Chintz, and the other friends, patients and loved ones lost to pancreatic cancer.
