Tonia's Run 5K
March 31, 2016
In November of 2013, one of my dearest friends in the world was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Tonia endured major surgery, six months of chemotherapy, and the knowledge that she has a disease with a five year survival rate of a meager 5%. She is one of the strongest people I know. As a comeback she ran the Bryce Canyon 100 (that's a 100 mile race) and finished second female.
In April of last year Steve Hayner, former president of InterVarsity, a non profit for which I worked for 10 years, was also diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After a courageous battle, surrounded by his family, he died this winter.
I am running the Denver Rock 'n' Roll half marathon on October 18. I am running for Project Purple, a running charity that raises money for pancreatic cancer research. I am running with Tonia and I am running in honor of Steve.
Would you please help me to make a difference by supporting my run for Project Purple. My goal is to raise $1000. I really believe that together we can make a difference.
