Although Vietnam has been gaining in wealth over the past decade, and made gains in social programs, most of these improvements have occurred in the larger cities, and still remain outside the realm of the very poor. Still, approximately 75% of the population live in rural areas, and continue to live in impoverish conditions. Although many children go to school, schools are strict and often provide a very rigid form of learning. Students rarely have the opportunity to express themselves freely outside of school or home.
Our goal is to provide free art and music instruction to under-served students in Vietnam. We wish to give an alternate voice to young students outside of their difficult home lives. We hope that these students will work freely in art and then find ways to apply this to their individual lives.
