For years I have been involved personally and professional with non-profit groups and organizations (large and small) whose principle goal(s) has been to help provide the basic resources and opportunities for those in need: the unemployed, the homeless, the under-educated, those returning to society after legal problems.
In the past, I worked or volunteered for organizations that already had in place those necessities and individuals for success: an active Board of Directors, a trained-committed staff, funding and/or an active development program to raise the needed funding for their projects.
A year ago, I was providied an opportunity by a successful businessman in Johnson County, Kansas where one of his business entities is a hotel ownership group. While this hotel may, at first site, appear and operate just like any other older hotel. But when you understand and comprehend the owner's personal ambition and lifelong commitment (dream), you will see something special: a place welcoming those in need -- whether for a place to live, an employment opportunity, or a chance to start over without all the governmental and societal hoops to jump through or doors that always close.
The principle goal of this fundraising effort is to raise the funds needed to enhance and sustain (endow) the ongoing efforts and programs the hotel offers without the owner continually having to sink in his own funds/retirement to help those in need in Johnson County who have no where else to turn.
