Dr. Jim Rogers, an incredible man, husband, father, and friend, was as passionate about running as he was about showing love and care to his family, friends, and students. After a short but mighty battle with brain cancer, Dr. Rogers crossed his final finishline on January 14, 2013.
And so, as a band of roving psychologists-to-be, we are on a mission: to run the Akron Marathon, in his stead. But we're grad students...natural born overachievers...we like to multi-task. In addition to collectively running a marathon, we're also doing our part to end brain cancer. And asking all of you to pitch in!
On September 28, 2013, we will be paying homage to our fallen advisor, teacher, and hero, by running along side the all important blue line (for those not local to Akron, the blue line is the marathon race course that weaves its way all over town). Please feel free to donate to the cause AND, if you're local, come out and cheer us on! I'd love to see a sign that reads:
"Rogers, et al. (2013)., you're a cite for sore eyes!"
Dr. Rogers, you and the blue line can guide our feet as we run this race...we'll just try to keep up!
