THE STORY:

It's August 20th and tomorrow will mark the beginning of a new decade for me - my 30th Birthday! :) It's very flattering that some of you had already asked and thought of sending me gifts which I would gladly accept. Although this year, it won't be for me but for the people who need it the most! I know…sign of maturity, right? However, this is not just a spur of the moment random idea that occurs to me as I say goodbye to my 20's. I'd like you to know that I'm not raising this fund for random strangers but for my friends and family who are dear to me in lieu of gifts for my special day. I'm trying to raise $700 to help fund education, feeding programs, and some medical help in the Philippines.

Some of you may know that I'm providing financial support to two of my nieces so they can get high-quality education their parents can't provide for them. It's very minimal but what is "not much" for us in the U.S. goes a long way in countries like Philippines and I know this for a fact as I was born and raised there myself and I completely understand how difficult life can be for Filipinos especially for those who are struggling financially.

Two months ago started the new school year in the Philippines and as always I received a call from a cousin reminding me of tuition fee dues. It was a good conversation with some good news that brought relief to me as I learned that for one of my nieces I'd only be paying $25/month for her tuition to a very excellent school in Manila as she was able to get a scholarship and $10/month for the one going to school in the province. As soon as I sent the money, another relative asked for help and told me she'd like her kids to continue with their education. However, she is in desperate need of help as her husband's recent medical condition is making it impossible for the family to support the children's education. I was able to give her some help, but it wasn't enough which truly breaks my heart. Another friend whose actively involve in a feeding program and providing medical assistance to children in the rural area of the province where I grew up shared to me the work they do and I promised her I will help. These are just a few of the commitments I made. As I approach my 30th birthday, I said "Yes!" to God's invitation to help and I'm working on it. So to my family and friends please make my wish come true: P30,000 Philippine pesos ($700) for my 30th Birthday for the feeding program, medical assistance and to support education to my Filipino friends and family. And even if you can't support this cause financially, I will appreciate it so much if you spread this celebration of my birthday by sharing this campaign whenever you can.
