The Annual Roots of Peace Walk to the Jordan River raises money to support the work of Roots of Peace in removing landmines from the Holy Land, which the first step in removing borders and clearing the way for peace.
- $10 pays the way for the footprint of a child
- $50 pays the way for the footprint of an adult
- $100 plants an olive tree
- $500 plants a vineyard
- $1,000 removes 1 landmine
The Annual Roots of Peace Walk to the Jordan River coincides with the Feast of the Baptism Walk that takes place in Qasr al Yahud every year on January 18th.
Qasr al Yahud, is a holy site for the three major monotheistic religions: the place where the Israelites crossed over the Jordan River, Elijah the Prophet ascended to heaven, and where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.
Qasr al Yahud is also a live minefield due to years of conflict in the Holy Land.
The Annual Roots of Peace Annual Walk to the Jordan River aims to raise awareness and funds in order to clear the minefields of Qasr al Yahud and once again open the area for all to visit and enjoy.
