I hope everyone had a great summer and enjoyed time off with their families and friends! Now that we are halfway through September, it is time to get down to business. In November, I will be participating in the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon in support of Covenant House, an organization I care passionately about and have volunteered for in the past. I ran in support of Covenant House in 2014 and was amazed to find out how many of you care deeply about Covenant House's mission as well.
Following the 2014 marathon, I was pretty sure I was headed towards retirement from competitive running. As the great Kenny Powers once said, "I'm not trying to be the best at exercising." However, I felt compelled to raise awareness for Covenant House as their mission of opening doors for homeless youth never stops. Their employees and volunteers are working every day to improve the lives of others who are less fortunate, so the least I can do is commit to providing them the resources to help them accomplish their mission.
Covenant House has played an irreplaceable role in the lives of thousands of homeless youth across the U.S. since 1972. They are the largest privately-funded agency serving homeless, runaway and throwaway youth in 21 cities across the US, Canada and Central America. They provide food, clothing, emergency shelter, job training, high school educations, health care, counseling, programs for moms and their babies, street outreach, and a national hotline for kids in crisis.
