ROSE: Respect. Offer. Serve. Elevate.
Organized by: Libby Crow
EVENT DATE Apr 30, 2016
Friends have been asking me what I'm doing for my birthday for a couple months...I love their spirit of celebration. :) I've been thinking about what I want to do and landed on the PERFECT way to celebrate---through respecting my fellow human BEings, a love offering (you'll see what I mean with the bag full of love I talk about below), service, and elevating my own vibration and theirs by sharing these gifts.
This year I want to give back for my birthday.
Sure, I could do brunch and a spa day n' get those nails did, but what would really fill my bucket is service. Super corny, right? Well, I'm a huge ball of corn (non-Monsanto if that's possible). In the past half year living somewhat near Rose Ave (there's a small street near Rose where a group of homeless hang) I've become friends with a handful of people who are currently homeless. My friend Rick in particular has been an integral part of me understanding homelessness and helping me shift my perspective when it comes to assumptions about why people are on the street. He's taught me a lot, he's one of the wisest people I've met. One of my favorite things he's ever said to me was, "Many people are not realizing that their physical ailments are spiritual problems in disguise." #brilliant
Because I am fortunate to have a home, food, health, people that catch me if I fall....I feel moved to share some of that fortune in a small way that could mean the world to one person. And, I'm asking you to join me. I know we are all making things work for us financially...we are on that hustle making things happen.
There are many ways we can give back---dog shelters, building homes worldwide, creating fresh water sources in rural communities, creating jobs for women in villages...and I'm inspired to SURPRISE a lot of people in my neighborhood who are living on ROSE with a bag full of love.
Inside each bag:
-a bottle of water
-a hand written quote reminded them they are important and beautiful
-a giftcard to Whole Foods
Will you join me?
$10 could turn someone's day around and give them hope.
When I took Rick out to lunch one day he said nobody has been that kind to him in over a year on the streets.
Will you celebrate with me by sharing in this experience? If you're local in LA and want to join in on making the bags and distributing them, I'd love to have you join me.
We are ON for this Saturday (my birthday) April 30th in the early morning. Usually the cops wake everyone up super early so we will go around then so they wake up with something happy! :) If you're not local, your gift of any type of donation is going to go a long way.
Sometimes you don't realize what a big ripple something small can have.
I appreciate you and your willingness to make someone's day...especially when it's not expected.
Everybody loves a good surprise and a bag full of love, right!?
