BENEFITING: Rotary Foundation of Rotary International
EVENT DATE: Sep 08, 2014
My amazing journey took 10 straight days of climbing, sleeping on the ground without a shower, and the final summit day walking in subzero weather. My drinking water froze about 1/3 from the top and I still have healing areas from frostbite on my nose....but would I do this again? Absolutely. The one thing that I kept thinking was the promise I made. It was a phenomenal experience that I will remember forever. I am very grateful to all the people that believed in me and donated to End Polio Now.
Although my climb is complete, my quest is not. October 24 is End Polio Now day. If you have been thinking about donating, what a great way to do it
For as little as US60 cents, a child can be vaccinated against polio for life.
Your donation now works even harder. From 2013 to 2018, every US dollar Rotary commits to polio eradication will become three dollars, thanks to a 2-to-1 match from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
By the way, if you look closely at several of my photos, I am wearing a baseball cap signed by Bill Gates....so in a way, he was on the "Roof of Africa" at Uhuru Peak with me.
