BENEFITING: KANSAS CITY ROTARY CLUB FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Apr 09, 2015
You know how great it is to get a new pair of shoes? Sometimes it’s the littlest things that make the biggest difference…
Each year, Rotary Club 13 partners with Buckner International and the Shoes for Orphan Souls project to help raise awareness and money for the donation of shoes to impoverished children around the world. For the 8th anniversary of this partnership, Rotary Club 13 has expanded its efforts by using the power of the Internet to raise $2000. Check out this Message from Larry Lunsford!
Your donation has a direct impact on the lives of Children! For every $8 donated, at least one pair of shoes will be purchased by Rotary Club 13 to help a child in need. The project runs from April 9th through April 18th. And this years shoes will be going to the Dominican Republic!
Shoes for Orphan Souls®, the largest humanitarian aid project of Buckner International, provides new shoes and socks to orphans and vulnerable children in the United States and throughout the world. The mission at Shoes for Orphan Souls is to provide new shoes to the world’s 143 million orphans; to the vulnerable children living in families earning less than $1 a day.
How does it work? Watch Journey of the Shoes:
Club 13 raises funds to purchase new shoes as well as collects donated new pairs of shoes.
Club 13 prepares the shoes for delivery to Buckner International, which includes making sure the pairs are together, banded and packaged in separate boxes.
Club 13 sends its own emissaries to Africa to hand deliver the shoes to the children to ensure that the shoes reach the intended recipients.
