Completed 4 million meters!
May 20, 2017
Please join my quest to continue helping the children of El Tránsito, Nicaragua! During the past 6 summers, I have acquired and transported donations of uniforms and school supplies to students in the small fishing village of El Transito, which is located on the Pacific Coast about one hour north of Managua. Most of the residents live on less than $3 per day and half are under 18 and not well-educated.
This summer, I will be training for the US Rowing Club Nationals in July and can't make the trip. In attempt to "get there" anyways, I am going to row the approximate 2,350 nautical miles (or about 4 million meters), which is the distance from Los Angeles to El Tránsito, on an erg or in the water. I am seeking sponsors for my "journey" and all donations will be used to purchase ASUS ZenPad 10” tablet computers that will be loaded with textbooks and available for students to use when attending class. The majority of children and classrooms do not have textbooks, which is an big impediment to learning.
If you are interested in sponsoring an entire tablet, you can go straight to amazon.com and buy one from The NICA Fund wishlist.
Thank you for supporting my journey, which I estimate will take over 300 hours of rowing in a boat or on erg.
