Royal Family Kids Camp

WHAT IS RFKC? // CAMP is July 17-22, 2017 Royal Family Kids Camp (RFKC) is an outreach which ministers to children from the foster care system who have experienced many types of abuse and neglect. This camp provides 5 days of fun and connection for these kids who often do not receive love and support from any other source. Dedicated volunteers give of their time and resources to make this camp a lasting memory for hundreds of kids on an annual basis. The only agenda the staff has for the week is to show the children the love of Christ and create positive memories for them. Each day consists of planned activities, such as plays, Bible stories, and worship. There are also several hours of activities such as swimming, fishing, archery, hiking, arts & crafts, woodworking, a tea party and beauty salon for the girls, and a car making/racing time for the boys. There is also a giant birthday party for all campers, because many have never had one. All of the children are sent home with gifts, Bibles, hand-made quilts, and a memory book containing pictures of them during the week. Throughout the week they are taught that God is always with them, and when times are bad they can always look to Him. This safe and loving concept is planted in their hearts to stay with them always. Another component to the camp is follow-up mentoring. A staff member or counselor from camp can enter a nine month mentoring program with a child from camp with whom they had a special connection. A minimum of 4 hours a month is required. Many counselors find this a truly rewarding experience because they develop such a bond with the children over the week of camp. It takes approximately 50 staff members and 50 counselors to bring 100 children to camp. BECOME A COUNSELOR! Do you feel God’s call to be a counselor at camp? Your experience at camp will change your life, and will create lasting memories and the seeds of Jesus’ love in the lives of the children! This is a true mission work right in our own area. As with all our mission trips, we ask that each counselor raise the fees needed to cover all activity and boarding costs for the children and counselors ($600). Easy fundraising ideas are available to help if needed.
