EVENT DATE: Jul 01, 2012
Our film, set for July 2012, will involve in depth interviews with genocide survivors, mothers and their children whom our micro credit loan program Rwanda Sustainable Families supports and knows in Gisenyi, Rwanda, located on the border of the DRC (Congo).
Some facts: 56% of families in Gisenyi are headed by widows killed during or following the genocide 17 years ago. Rwanda is working collectively to eradicate poverty and disease through a strong government initiative. Infant mortality, HIV and hunger is on the decline. But they need our help.
With your support, we will uncover and share their powerful peacebuilding skills as well as their personal qualities and strengths that have sustained their amazing lives. We believe that positive messages of peace, resilience and restoration will support our vision of world peace.
We will conduct poetry, song, dance and/or painting workshops that will explore, express and share their wisdom, to be performed for the Gisenyi community and the world.
We hope that you will help make it possible to share these insightful, inspiring and hope-filled stories, song, dance and artwork of Rwandan survivor peacebuilders.
