Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. On September 15, 2013 I am running in a half marathon on Team Racing to Register.
Racing To Register’s main goal is to increase the number of potential donor’s available to patients of all races, ethnicities and ages, who are in need of a lifesaving bone marrow or stem cell transplant.
Every year, thousands of people are diagnosed with blood cancers like leukemia or lymphoma. Many of them need a bone marrow transplant in order to win the fight against their disease. About 70% of these bone marrow receipients need bone marrow from a donor that is not a family member. The National Bone Marrow Registry is a registry of donors that these patients turn to in order to find a matching donor. Volunteer donors can save someone's life by donating their bone marrow to someone who requires a transplant to treat their blood cancer.
This subject is dear to my heart as my Aunt (Didzi) has recently received a bone marrow transplant, and her bravery, strength, courage and positive attitude during the grueling process is amazing and inspiring. Everyone that loves her (and there are many!) are so thankful that she is doing well.
Please consider donating to Racing to Register to increase awareness of the importance of registering in the National Bone Marrow Registry Program. And please consider registering yourself in The National Bone Marrow Registry to someday hopefully save someone else's life. Thank you!
