Ruck for Kiel

So I am not the most social media savvy and network connected guy but I am going to try and do this to help out a friend. My daughter Grace is a dancer - she has been almost her entire life. One of her dear friends from dance is having a very difficult year. Just a few months ago this sweet young girl was leading a normal life for an 11 year old - school, family, lots of dance (in our carpool several times per week)! But since January she has been in an out of state residential treatment facility for an eating disorder. There have also been a couple of stays in the hospital for medically unstable vital signs. Unfortunately, her progress is a bit slow and unpredictable. It is heartbreaking to see her suffering through this terrible disease. Her family is very strong and supportive - one of her parents is there every day. But in addition to the stress and exhaustion it is also a financial burden - medical cost, travel, accommodations, etc. I hope to raise some funds to help.
Last June I completed a GORUCK event - it is a team based endurance challenge wearing a weighted rucksack (check out their great website for more info). I did the LIGHT which as they say doesn't equal easy - I believe we covered close to 12 miles in downtown Richmond. So this June I am signed up for the GORUCK Tough - should be 12+ hours and 20 miles or so. Many of these events do raise funds for some great causes. I have decided to dedicate my miles of training and hours of "Good Livin" to our special young friend. I would greatly appreciate any contributions to this fundraiser - all of the monies will go directly to the family to help offset their expenses. In addition, please take a moment to visit the website of the National Eating Disorders Association to learn more about this misunderstood and deadly disease. They do a great job of spreading awareness and fostering understanding of the nature of this illness.
