For those of you who may or may not know, I love to give back, do Crossfit and follow my heart. By participating in this event, and fundraising, I am accomplishing all of these things! I am currently training in Athlete Camp at Crossfit West Essex to prepare for this event, I give back regularly, both through my job and the various organizations I volunteer with. My love for CSH started this past holiday season, when I donated gifts/toys for Christmas to the Mountainside location. There are multiple locations in NJ for outpatient services, but only two for inpatient (Mountainside is one of them).
I have been volunteering at Children's Specialized Hospital on the weekends, specifically with the children in the Long Term Care Unit. All of these children (0-22) have a special need or needs, whether it be that they are wheelchair bound, or non-verbal. However, they have the brightest spirits, biggest smiles and most inspiring personalities I have come in contact with. I look forward to spending time with them - whether it is going for a stroll outside in the garden, helping them with a craft (that ultimately ends up in my office!), or swinging on the special-made swingset/jungle gym! Without this hospital and its donors, these kids would have such a different lifestyle and poor quality of life. I am truly blessed to be involved with this organization. Each child has touched my heart and impacted my life in more ways than I can count. I wouldn't be the person I am toady if it weren't for them and their easily given unconditional love.
Please consider donating -- when you make a donation, you give a gift that impacts thousands of children with special needs. Your donation makes it possible for a child to receive the specialized health care he or she needs, and learn to walk, talk, eat, and breathe independently – again, or for the first time. Any and all donations are appreciated from the bottom of my heart!!
