This is a year of big milestones for me -- I turned 40, hit one year at Twilio, and my daughter turned 13 . Building on my New Years resolution to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, I decided to take on a (very) uncomfortable challenge: running a half marathon. I am not a runner. Before I started training I'd never run more than 3 miles. I'm nervous and excited to get this race in the bag with my fam by my side! We'll be running the Mayor's Half Marathon this weekend in Anchorage.
To focus my efforts in this challenge I'm raising money for La Casa de las Madres in San Francisco. The mission of La Casa de las Madres is to respond to calls for help from domestic violence victims, of all ages, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. La Casa provides emergency shelter to moms and kids facing domestic violence and empowers them through counseling, support groups, practical living skills development, resource advocacy, and support service referrals. La Casa also encourages women and their children to engage together to relieve trauma, strengthen bonds, and break the intergenerational cycle of violence.
As a single mom myself this cause is very close to my heart <3. This has been such an amazing year for me and I am so grateful and lucky. Please help me show my gratitude by helping other moms while reaching for the finish line!
