This summer, the world lost a remarkable woman–Nancy Ryan–who touched the lives of everyone she met. As the mother of one of my best friends since high school, Melissa Greenberg Neto, Nancy welcomed all of Mel's friends into her home where we spent endless nights watching movies, baking Funfetti cakes, and chatting 'til the early hours of the morning. She was a mentor, a business executive, an author, a mother, a comedian, and a dear friend.
She gave me my first real summer job when I had absolutely no experience, and she shaped my life in more ways than I can even fathom. Throughout her battle with Multiple Symptom Atrophy, she never lost her sense of humor or her style. I feel fortunate to have known her and am honored to run the Newburyport Half Marathon as a celebration of her life.
Nancy left us much too early because of a devastating and rare disease called Multiple Symptom Atrophy. Please join me in helping to build awareness and support research of MSA.
