BENEFITING: CURE CMD
A year ago Billy and I welcomed our daughter Olivia into the world. It was everything we could have hoped for. It was a difficult post pregnancy with lack of sleep and trying to understand the world of motherhood. However, I kept telling myself it will get better. Billy and I had talked about plans of taking her on our weekend hikes with the dogs to sharing my love of baking. At 4 months, these plans were put on hold. We were told that our daughter was diagnosed with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. A rare disease that only affects 1 in 50,000 people. Billy and I are carriers of a mutated gene that limits Olivia's mobility. There is a lot of good research happening, but there is NO cure at this time. It's been a very emotional process for all of us. Olivia has seen more medical specialist and has more labs drawn then I have ever had in my own lifetime. Throughout all this, Olivia has been a trooper. She is a easy going 1 year old that is very chatty once she is over the "stranger danger" mode. She loves to be out exploring her surroundings. She enjoys watching her fur siblings run around the house. She's just a sweet and bright kid that knows what she wants! So as we wait for any new medical advances, Billy and I want to raise money for additional research and spread awareness about CMD. We will be running the San Jose Rock N' Roll Marathon on October 2, 2016. All monies raised will be donated to CURE CMD.
