BENEFITING: MARLEY CAT TALES
Running 50k, or 31 miles, is difficult. Running them on a trail is evendors more difficult. But for the estimated 70 million homeless dogs and cats in the US, life is even more difficult. Only 1 in 10 of those will find their way to a shelter, and only 1 in 20 will eventually find a forever home.
That is why I want to do what I can to help. I will pay my race fees, I will donate my own money, I will train, and I will complete the Mountain to Sea 50k trail race on April 9, 2017, knowing that every step I take is one step closer to another pet finding a dry home and a human to cuddle up to.
Supporting an animal rescue is a great way to ensure as many pets as possible are given the opportunity they deserve, to live a long, happy, healthy life with a family that will care for them. It's not a lot to ask for when someone's potential best friend is without a home.
Every dime of money donated will go directly to Calvin's Paws Rescue in Raleigh, who does amazing work in the area. When Jessica's co-worker found a litter of kittens, Calvin's Paws took them in and cared for them. Now, all 8 of those kittens have a home (2 of them call our house home).
The services a rescue provide are astounding, considering the number of animals they care for. For each pet:
$50 pays for basic testing
$100 pays for full vaccines
$150 pays for spay/neuter
$200+ sick/special needs animals
This does not include food, advertisement, and event costs
Please join me in donating. You provide a few bucks, I'll worry about getting to the finish line and blistered feet. We can all come away at the end of the day knowing we did our part.
