Run For Veterans aims to raise awareness and support for U.S. veterans mental health care needs through family oriented 5K runs. Our 3rd annual 5K will be hosted July 31 in Burr Ridge, IL. All proceeds will benefit Volunteers of America-IL. Volunteers of America launched “A Home for the Brave” in 2009 to increase awareness about and resources for the growing need for permanent and supportive housing resources for our nation’s Veterans. As part of the initiative, we created our Hope Manor continuum of housing developments, which provide high-quality housing with intensive and supportive services to Veterans who are struggling with or at-risk of homelessness. Hope Manor I and now Hope Manor II are located in Chicago. Volunteers of America-IL also has the True North Project, which reaches out to Veterans wherever they are in their journey towards healing and stability and offers a full continuum of supportive services and interventions that are individually tailored to meet the unique needs of each Veteran.
