BENEFITING: Latin American Youth Center, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Oct 22, 2017
I sincerely dislike running. I like biking, I love soccer and basketball, and I relish any chance to play on a team. But I really, really don't like running.
Running has always seemed monotonous to me. It's step after step, therefore extremely predictable. On a bike I can whiz around parked car doors opening and try to beat a stoplight. Running doesn't give me that high.
But a few weeks ago I went to New York Cit and saw something that truly inspired me: our friend, Chris Miller, was beginning to run across the entire United States. While Chris loves running, that alone did not propel him to start his journey. A cause did.
While Chris is averaging a marathon a day, I decided to put all my chips into one disdained basket and run for an organization I believe in; the Latin American Youth Center. They help Latin American Youth and youth of all backgrounds get opportunities in a world that is increasingly difficult for immigrants. As someone whose roots are deeply entrenched in this land, I accept them and I love them. How much so, you ask? If you only knew how much I abhor running, you would understand how much.
Help me raise money to help something I believe in.
