BENEFITING: FIRST SHIFT JUSTICE PROJECT
EVENT DATE: Nov 13, 2016
Empower low-income mothers in D.C. by supporting First Shift Runners in the Veterans' Day 10K in Washington D.C. on November 13th! All donations support First Shift Justice Project and will be matched by an anonymous donor! Our goal is $8000.
The mission of First Shift Justice Project is to help low-income caregivers - in particular, single mothers - stand up to workplace injustice and retain their employment in the face of discrimination and real or perceived conflict between their work and family responsibilities. Approximately 2/3 of the low income working families in Washington D.C. are headed by a single breadwinning mom. When mom loses her job, the whole family suffers.
Mothers are running all the time - running to get the kids to school, running to get to work on time, running to put dinner on the table. They run to provide the best for their children. We are running to support working mothers in asserting their workplace rights to get what they need to make it work.
