BENEFITING: WINIFRED MASTERSON BURKE MEDICAL RESEARCH
ORGANIZER: RUN 4
EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2014
I began running about four years ago while on summer vacation with my family. My youngest child was a toddler that summer and my goals were simple: I wanted to lose the last stubborn bit of baby weight and enjoy some time outdoors. Little did I know how quickly running would enrich my life, improve my perspective and help me build new confidence. As a busy working mother of three, running has helped me manage stress and feel a sense of accomplishment. I’ve met some incredible people and found a great reason to travel to new cities. Most importantly, running has given me an opportunity to teach my children about setting goals and perseverance. Since that summer vacation, I’ve completed two marathons and several half marathons. Whether it be in a race, or in life, there will always be challenges to overcome and finish lines to cross. Brad and his family are so bravely charging forward on their own marathon toward recovery and healing and I’m honored to help them on their journey!
I met Brad during our junior year of high school. I was a new student at Yorktown High School that year and remember Brad as a kind and friendly face in an unfamiliar environment. When I heard about his injury, his passion for running, and the incredible fundraising efforts of his wife, Jessica, I immediately wanted to help. I am excited to be a part of the Run 4 Brad team and will support the Bermans in the spirit of strength, determination and courage! Go Team Run 4 Brad!
