EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2014
My name is Jill Blumencranz and I am 25 years old. I have been an athlete my entire life. Mainly focusing on soccer and lacrosse, but always loved to run. I ran track in high school and I really excelled in sprints. It wasn’t until my senior year of college when I became a “real runner”. I participated in my first half marathon in May 2011. Since then I have completed 3 half marathons and 1 full marathon. I love the constant challenge that running does to me. My dad is my inspiration and motivator. He is a 3 time Ironman and my biggest role model. He has taught me that if you put your mind to something you can accomplish anything. I really take this to heart while I run. I am always trying to improve my time. We will be running together (hopefully) in this year’s NYC marathon and I hope to beat him! I have been so lucky to have my dad as my running buddy. He has pushed me and ran with me for most of my training for my first marathon last year. This year I am receiving the guidance from my dad’s tri-coach who has started to send me weekly schedules. I ran my first half marathon in 1:46, my second in 1:43 and my third half marathon in 1:34. I ran my first marathon in 3:30 and qualified for Boston 2015. The NYC marathon was one of the most unbelievable experiences of my entire life.
I met Jessica through my dad. Jessica then came to my sample sale (I work for a denim company) and I helped her pick a few pairs of jeans that look amazing on her! Having heard the story of what happened to Brad a few months later, my dad and I knew we had to do something. Reading the emails of brad’s recovery; I am humbled by his strength. I am so excited to be a part of the RUN 4 Brad team this year and to raise money and awareness for AVM research.
