In 2013, Roots of Hope will be celebrating its 10th anniversary and we are kicking the year off on January 27th by running the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon as a registered charity! Although runners do have to fundraise to participate, this year Run4Roots will be more than just a fun race to raise funds for our initiatives - it will be an opportunity to make history.
Why? Because for the first time ever, we will be running in parallel with youth in Cuba. In other words, when we hit the pavement on January 27th for our run, a group in Cuba will be running at the same time! In addition to being an unprecedented bridge linking the youth communities on both sides of the Florida Straits, the race will be an opportunity to build one-on-one relationships with young Cubans on the island who are thirsting for information and friendship.
The New Year has always been a time to reground and refocus - what better way to do so than to support a great cause and have a tangible impact?
