Run Any Race

THE STORY:

The idea of running the 26.2 mile distance of a marathon is often daunting for me to think about, but it is a challenge that I have wanted to take on for a few years now. On August 30, 2014 I will be toeing the starting line of the Marquette Marathon! When thinking about my preparation for the marathon I realized that this event would allow me to take my passion for running and use it as an opportunity for ministry. Here enters the Hall STEPS Foundation.

In 2009 Ryan and Sara Hall, both professional runners, started the Hall STEPS Foundation in an effort to fight poverty on a global level through better health. The foundation continues to grow and their efforts have resulted in the building of a hospital in Kenya and the construction of a water well and a health clinic in Mozambique.

The Hall STEPS Foundation will be the recipient of the fundraising drive that coincides with my training and running of this marathon. Donations are tax deductible! This race gives me the opportunity to reach out and positively impact the lives of others in need and I am hopeful that you will take the opportunity to join me in this fundraising effort.

My goal is to raise $6,000, the amount it costs to build a well in a country like Mozambique. Clean water is a necessity when it comes to a sport like running yet many countries lack access to a clean water supply causing sickness and death. This sickness keeps children out of school and parents out of work. By providing clean water sickness can be defeated and the cycle of poverty can be broken. In contributing to this fundraising drive you have the opportunity to help create that change! Your support in assisting me to accomplish this goal will be greatly appreciated.

The Hall STEPS Foundation wrote -

We encourage everyone to run a race for Steps no matter the distance and we reward those who go above and beyond in their fundraising. The levels below are the fundraising minimums we ask of runners who are supporting Steps at non-team races (races where we don't have events organzized by Steps staff). Rather this be the Jerry Jennings Memorial 5K in Flora, Illinois or the Pocatello Marathon in Pocatello, Idaho, all of your support is truly appreciated.
