On October 18th I will be running the Indianapolis Marathon. There is nothing special about that other than I estimate it will take approximately 34,609 strides or "STEPS" to complete the distance of 26 miles and 385 yards.
What is special is that for this marathon I have decided to support the Hall STEPS foundation in their marathon goal of ending world poverty. STEPS was founded by world-class runners Ryan and Sara Hall. I have never had the nerve to start my own fund raiser before, but after following Ryan and Sara's careers for several years and recently reading Ryan's book "Running with Joy" I have been inspired by their tremendous faith and commitment to this cause. Therefore I have decided to give one/penny for every step of my marathon and I am asking you to join me!
Steps partners with leading international and local non-profit in Sub-Saharan Africa to fund projects that invest in sustainable methods of enhancing access to basic essentials. To date, this has included
1) Clean Water, Agricultural Development, andFood security in East Africa
2) Building a Hospital in the Rift Valley of Kenya and Pemba, Mozambique
3)Microloans in East Africa
4) Funding running-mentoring programs for at-risk individuals in the US, including a program for Homeless individuals in the US that combines running with learning life skills

Using the theme of how many STEPS it will take me to complete a marathon, I am asking for donations in increments of one penny per step Contributions of any amount are greatly appreciated, but if you would like to follow the penny per step theme here is the conversion.
1 mile = 1,320 steps = one penny/step = $13.20 donation
The goal for my fundraiser 3 marathons worth of steps, which at a penny per step equals $1,038
Donations are easy and tax deductible. Just go to my website and click the "Donate To this Fundraiser Button".
I would truly appreciate and be honored by your support.
Thanks for partnering with us to help those in need
